Poetry Audio Readings

Welcome to my Poetry Audio Readings page. Here, you can explore recordings of poems from my books and series, from live readings to studio sessions. Whenever I’m lucky enough to read to a live audience, I try to record the session — usually straight onto the voice recorder on my phone. It gives me something to refer back to later, rather than relying on memory, which is notoriously unreliable when you’re trying to recall how a piece actually sounded.

At other times, I’ve recorded with the intention of making a YouTube clip, or for a submission to support some project or another. Those recordings might be done on the phone as well, or with studio gear. Occasionally someone else has handled the recording entirely — for example, radio interviews.

Recently I needed to create a link to one particular reading — Politika Of The Pipples — and that sent me down the path of doing a bit of housekeeping at https://frankprem.com and wondering what to do with all these scattered recordings. I’ve finally decided to bring them together in one place, on this proper Poetry Audio Readings page.

You’ll now find:

  • Curated playlists from several books and series — poems from The Garden Black, The Book of Evenings, Memoir of a Dog, The New Asylum, SMALL Change, Sheep On The Somme, and more.
  • Individual poems with their own audio tracks — including Politika Of The Pipples, mythologically themed poems, and a number of unthemed readings.
  • A mix of studio, live, and informal recordings — library readings, radio interviews, and other live sessions.

There’s plenty more in the archives that I’ll sort through and add later, but this feels like a solid start — and a good way to dip into my catalogue if you prefer listening rather than reading.

If you’d like to explore, the page is here:

Have a listen, wander about, and let me know what you think. It’s a pleasure to finally have these gathered in one place.
