A Lifelong Australian Poet
Hello and Welcome.
I’ve been writing poetry for over forty years, exploring themes of identity, history, and place. My work is known for its contemporary voice and heartfelt storytelling.
An Accessible Voice of Contemporary Australian Poetry
Drawing on personal experience and broader cultural narratives, I aim to connect deeply with readers through free verse, speculative themes, and lyrical reflections. It is my intention to ensure that my work is accessible and meaningful to all readers – whether fluent readers of poetry of literature or not.
Philosophically, I believe that poetry should be able to read easily, so that readers can focus on what they have read, rather than deciphering clever or complicated words.
About the Books
My collections include poetry that spans fantasy, love, conflict, and regional life. Notable titles are A Specialist at The Recycled Heart, Small Town Kid, and From Volyn to Kherson.
Beyond the Page
Besides writing, I share readings and performances on my YouTube channel and post regularly on my poetry blogs. I also work as a book designer and publisher.
I also post regularly on my poetry blogs, including Frank Prem Poetry.

Hello Frank,
You probably do not remember me but, I owned the pharmacy (previously Downes Pharmacy) from 1970 until 1987. They were very enjoyable years & part of me is still there.
I assume that you are the son of Frank Prem Snr . , who I had the pleasure of knowing back then.
I have just been sorting out boxes of saved letters & documents , prior to planning for our next move ( probably into an age care facility in Qld)
In the process, I found a letter that your father had written to me in 1972 , detailing his trip to Yugoslavia & all the trials & tribulations of air travel back then. I found it fascinating reading.
If you are interested Frank, I am happy to scan & send you a copy.
You may care to share with the locals even !
Regards,
Gwyn

Hello Gwyn.
What a lovely surprise to hear from you. I trust you’re keeping well up there in the sunny North.
I remember you well and can still recall the days of counting tablets and the like in the pharmacy as one of my earliest work experiences.
I’d be very interested in getting a scan of dad’s letter to you. My sister would be keen to see it as well, I’m sure. I write and publish a lot of poetry these days and who knows, it may find its way into some verse down the track.
The best emailto use is: FrankPrem03@gmail.com.
I’ll look forward to seeing the letter. Thanks so much for going to the trouble to find me in the internet wilderness.
Cheers,
Frank
Correction – Sorry, your Father was George – I was obviously remembering your name from back then.
Cheers
Gwyn
