New love poetry and stories
Frank Prem‘s A Love Poetry Trilogy is the creation of three volumes of new love poetry and stories, drawing on the wonderful work of past masters of the poetic genre:
Amy Lowell‘s Madonna of the Evening Flowers (1919)
Walt Whitman‘s Leaves of Grass (1855)
T.S. Eliot‘s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock (1915)
Prem has utilised lines and phrases from these masterful original works to create new love stories and poems that reflect a mature outlook on life and distinct emphases that reflect the individual sources.
Walk Away SIlver Heart (Book 1) draws on Lowell’s very personal and interpersonal statement of love. It touches on absence and longing, before finding joy in the presence of the loved one. Prem matches the garden setting of the original poem with the flora of contemporary free verse poetry.
A KIss for the Worthy (Book 2) takes Whitman’s larger than life pleasure in being himself and in the wide world, and also of being himself within the wide world. This collection reflects the positive joy of simply being.
Rescue and Redemption (Book 3) explores Eliot’s more introspective and introverted, hesitant approach to the search for love. The original poem has been likened to Dante’s Inferno, but Prem interprets a search for sharing and belonging.
Frank Prem’s interpretations breathe new life into the contemporary exploration of themes of love in and through poetry. He makes mature sentiments of love accessible to even the most casual reader of poetry.
