About The Cielonaut: A Speculative Poetry Collection
The Cielonaut is a speculative poetry collection chronicling the experience of the sole survivor of a catastrophic launch — a man cast adrift aboard an interstellar vessel, powerless, purposeless, and utterly alone. With no course to follow and no way to return, he drifts endlessly through the cosmos. Stars, galaxies, and nebulae become his only companions — beautiful, unreachable reminders of a distant Earth.
This collection explores the emotional terrain of isolation and dislocation. The poems traverse wonder, despair, introspection, and reluctant acceptance — charting a quiet transformation in the endless night.
The visual elements accompanying this work are sourced from the NASA Image and Video Library, providing a cosmic backdrop to the quiet poetry of abandonment and awe.
Look Inside The Cielonaut
he counts
as a year goes by
measures the time
in heartbeats
sixty pulses
to every minute
now
how many lightyears
have just gone dark
behind him
same again
in one minute more
and still
the emptiness
shows no sign
of an end
